Halloween - The Bearded Lady

I went to a Halloween party last night at Blix MoonMaiden's home. She looked gorgeous, as always. There were some really fun costumes. I dressed as The Bearded Lady and my husband dressed as a goth girl. It's the only time he's ever dressed in drag and I'm amazed he agreed to wear a dress!

For my eyes, I placed MAC Parrot all over my lid and beneath the inner 1/3 of my lower lash line, Brule on the brow bone, the black color from Sleek's Acid palette on the outer corner and in the crease and on the outer 2/3 of my lower lashline. I used Meow Glitz Glue to apply MAC Jewelmarine glitter everywhere I'd put the Parrot. The lashes were dragged out of the back of a drawer and I have no idea what brand they are. Blush is MAC Pinch O' Peach, and the lipstick is MAC Ravishing.

The beard was a human hair beard I bought at the Halloween store. I cut it up and used tweezers and spirit gum to place the hairs on just a few at a time. It didn't stick all too well, so by the time we left the party, I'd left about half of my beard all over Blix's floor. Oops!!!

This is me with my husband. He was laughing so hard at my beard the whole time I was doing his makeup, so his makeup didn't have any clean lines. We didn't care. :)

More pictures from the party under the cut.

Weekend Edition - Casual Makeup Day

This is my all-time favorite look for days when I'm wearing sweatshirts and jeans and running errands and don't want to spend more than 15 minutes in front of the mirror. My eye look is my #1 fave for when I want something easy and pretty and don't want to think too hard about what I'm wearing on my eyes that day, but it's also a fave for when I am dressing up and want to look nice. I wore this eye makeup look to my 20 year class reunion a few years ago, and kept receiving compliments all night long.

All that's to say, it's just simply one of  my favorite eye looks of all time - whether I'm dressing up or down!

The MAC Smoke & Diamonds eyeshadow is a limited edition from 2008 (I think?), and I don't wear it often because when it runs out, I will cry myself to sleep at night for weeks. I don't actually like it alone, but worn over MAC Indianwood paint pot, it's amazing. I get more compliments when I'm wearing this particular look on my eyes than any other time.

Excuse the hair -- I pulled it back in a ponytail because I don't want to have to wash it again later before getting ready for the Halloween party I'm going to at Blix MoonMaiden's home tonight!

FOTD - Neutral Gold and Brown with Meow Cosmetics

We got our first snow of the season on Wednesday, and it was so nice to not just get a light dusting, but to have a heavy dumping! Everything looks so pretty!

This is our little house when I left for work really, really early Wednesday morning:

And this is our house the next morning, when I left for work at a more reasonable hour:

And this is why I believe I have the prettiest commute of anyone I know. Seriously, you just can't beat the view. The pink of the sunrise in the east reflecting off the snowy mountains in the west was beyond breathtaking. That's why I had to take pictures while I was driving. Not exactly safe, but can you blame me?!?! I mean really -- look at that!!!

And here's my look for the day yesterday:

It was 12º F outside when I left for work. You think the F stands for "Fahrenheit"? No. It stands for F-ing cold!!!

Professional EOTD with Sleek Cosmetics

Today and tomorrow are the biggest days of the year where I work and my job is to look and be as professional and pleasant as humanly possible. So today I pulled out the professional look, although I tried to make it slightly dramatic -- definitely darker than I typically wear to work.

I cropped this one close because I am having a baaaad hair day. It was seriously weird-looking. I already know it'll be bad tomorrow because we're expecting a blizzard and with all that  moisture in the air, my hair is going to be a huge frizzball!

Neutral Look with Pumpkin Lips

Today's look is kind of boring, but it was good for work. It was a work-appropriate neutral look, with a little zing from the bright lippie that picked up on the orange of my earrings.

Weekend Edition - Purple People Eater

This week's makeup challenge over at Never Too Much Sparkle! is "Monster Mash/Purple People Eater." Well, that's a no-brainer for me: I looooooove purple. Purple is by far my favorite color to wear (although I will admit that a deep scarlet or crimson red is my favorite color overall). I decided it would be fun to do a full-on purple look for today. We're going to the Halloween store later, and I'll feel very in-season with all of my purple.

Ignore the hair, it looks horrible. I'll shower eventually today, I promise!

I didn't do my makeup in the pre-dawn hours as I usually do, I was able to get both lamp-light (with flash) and natural light (no flash) photos.

This first set is taken in indirect sunlight, no flash.

This second set is taken inside, with flash:

Weekend Edition/Game of Thrones - Green EOTD Inspired by Cersei Lannister

I rarely wear green, and I NEVER wear pastel greens. You're probably wondering why the heck I have pastel greens in my eye makeup collection if I never wear them. The answer is that they're just so pretty! So while today's Weekend Edition entry isn't particularly over-the-top (even for me, who is a little timid about color), it was experimental because of all the green, and also it contains GLITTER, so obviously not a look I can play with during the work week.

Today's green look was inspired by Cersei Lannister of Game of Thrones. What an awesome character in so many ways. She's a wonderful character that you just love to hate.

Autumnal FOTD with Geek Chic Cosmetics

This look is from this past Wednesday. I had a bunch of new Geek Chic samples to play with. I am in love with Twilight Princess. It's the most gorgeous shade of teal and I can't wait to wear it again! I also instantly became a huge fan of The Pointy End. I think I'll be wearing it a lot.

Oh, and look who finally got her brows threaded earlier this week! This is the best threading job Shifat's ever done for me, and this time, it really didn't hurt much, and there was no redness, swelling, or puffiness afterward. She said she was using a much better thread now. Amazing that the type of thread can make such a difference! Since she does this for her friends without charging, I take her out to lunch to thank her, so it's a win-win for me -- I get purty brows, and I get to have a great time out with my friend.

I love love love love love my orange howlite Harvest Pumpkin earrings. I get tons of compliments on them each time I wear them. People like them for not being full of Halloween cheeze and say they're classy because they're actual stone and are perfect for Autumn. These are some of the reasons I love them, too. You can get your own at Elements & Artifacts!

Game of Thrones - Jamie Lannister Inspired Look

I wanted to continue my GoT series, and I knew exactly who/what I was going to do when I got my LOST Collection samples from Persephone Minerals.

You guys, I am BLOWN AWAY by these eyeshadows! They are so deep and rich and jam-packed with sparkle. I thought Fyrinnae had the sparkliest sparkles, but I think Persephone may give them a run for their money. Just like Fyrinnae, they lose a lot of their amazingness when you blend, so I had to reapply some of the color and sparkle I blended away by mistake. Next time I wear Persephone shadows, I will try applying them over Pixie Epoxy to see if they really pack a punch then. There was the expected amount of fallout, but nothing out of the ordinary for a sparkly loose shadow.

Persephone's LOST Collection #4 is quite possibly the most beautiful gold color I've encountered. It's at least in my Top 3 golds. The LOST Collection #8 is one of the prettiest purples I've encountered. It is sparkly royal purple and so pretty I want to eat it up.

Here's the look I created today. The gold and purple were both very Jamie Lannisteresque to me.

I included these next two photos -- an out-of-focus one and one taken without the flash, to show how much sparkle and shimmer these shadows have. They are full of so much blingy win!!!

...aaaand the full face. The lippie wasn't a good choice. But I was 20 minutes late for work, so I didn't even bother to try to figure out a different option. Also, I hate this photo, but it's the best of the bunch I took today. I guess I wasn't feeling very photogenic this morning! I've been working around the clock this week (literally), and I'm really tired, and I think it shows.

Simple Look with Double Liner

I wore so much makeup this past weekend that I wanted a simple look today, but it ended up taking me longer than usual to get ready this morning. I was going to really early to work today and I ended up being only kind of early. Better than kind of late (which is more typical)!

The stunning wire-wraped necklace was created by Alicia of Elements & Artifacts around a one-of-a-kind glass moon focal pendant by Gail Kops. It's probably the most uniquely amazing (and most expensive!) accessory I own. I am so in love with it.
