Bailes Rusos with MAC Cosmetics

I opened a new pot of MAC Blacktrack Fluidline today and I swear the heavens opened and I heard angels sing. Even if this one dries out before I'm halfway through with it, I'm still going to buy a new one at that point. Fresh Fluidline is so amazing. There's no point trying to deal with the gooey, sludgy, dried-up stuff just to save a few bucks by making it last longer. Also, there's no point using other brands. To me, they're just not worth it...unless they're a color that I don't have in MAC Fluidline.

I have a framed poster on the wall of my bedroom that is, to me, one of the prettiest combinations of color I've ever seen. I decided to use some of those colors in a look.

Max Factor Moon Dust Nail Polish

Last month, a lovely later from Twitter CPd (Custom Purchased) for me a nail polish that I'd been wanting, but which can only be bought in the UK. Apparently Boots was having a sale, and so she picked up a second polish for me, too. This was the extra tag-along nail polish, and I actually love it more than the one I had specifically requested!

The nail polish is Max Factor's Moon Dust. It's a gorgeous dusty purple with silver and reddish-grape shimmers in it that are so teeny-tiny that rather than sparkle, this polish just shimmers a little. It's so pretty that I wish the bottle were larger. It's a "Max Effect Mini Nail Polish" and I'd definitely love having this particular color in a larger size. If I ever make it over to the UK again, I'll have to stock up!

As always, please disregard the horrible state of my nails and cuticles. I'm constantly working on them, but I just have chronically unhealthy nailbeds. Likewise, you'll see a bit of tip wear in these photos -- that's my fault for not taking photos sooner. Still, you can get the gist of the nail color, and that's what's important!

My First Accidental Dupe - Deborah Lippmann's Bad Romance Duped by Revlon Scandalous

I first came across the Deborah Lippmann nail polish Bad Romance a couple of weeks ago, and immediately pinned it on my Pinterest Nail Polish Wishlist. I don't typically like chunky glitter or hex glitter, but there is something about this polish that just grabbed me right away. I knew I'd never spend $18 on it, but I was still lemming it.

Then today, I was at Walgreens (taking advantage of their Sinful Colors $0.99 sale), when what did I spy with my little eye? Up at the checkout counter, was a bottle of Revlon's Scandalous. I took one look at it, and I knew I had found a dupe. I grabbed it, took it home, and immediately looked up Bad Romance for comparison, and yep, it's an exact dupe. I Googled it, and it appears other beauty bloggers have already made this discovery, but I hadn't, so I'm pretty excited to have made my first duplicate discovery.

I am very glad I only spent $5.49 instead of $18.

Anyway, here it is on my fingers. I love it!!!

This look was created with Seche Rebuild as a base coat, three coats of Revlon Scandalous, and one very thick coat of Seche Vite top coat.

Neutral Eye with Plum Lips with MAC Cosmetics

Yesterday, I wore two of my favorite makeup products of all time: MAC Satin Taupe eyeshadow and MAC Odyssey lipstick. They're both "desert island" products for me. The majority of what I wore today is MAC. As much as I love so many different brands of makeup, if I had to choose only one brand of cosmetics to wear for the rest of my life, I'd definitely choose MAC, because overall, I just love how their products work on me.

I've got a bit of squinky eyes going on in this first photo -- the sun was really bright!

Hot Tramp, I Love You So! - MAC Rebel Lipstick

I went to the MAC store today to pick up some staples and exchange some Back2MAC empties. I ended up picking up two lipsticks with my B2Ms, and one is so incredibly beautiful I had to dedicate an entire post to it.

The MAC website describes Rebel as a "mid-tone cream plum." However, this isn't just any ordinary plum. It's more of a blue-base bright raspberry with plummy undertones -- at least on my skin!

Here it is in all its glory:

This is what it looks like on me in natural light:

And this is what it looks like on me with flash:

I'm not sure how I lived without this lipstick before this! For me, it's the perfect bright berry shade that I can wear all year 'round. And when it wear away, it leaves a rich, deep stain, which I really love.

I'm so excited to have Rebel in my life!

Spring Greens

I have a drawer full of makeup I haven't used yet. I've been trying to shop my own stash and work my way through that drawer to try everything I've bought or received in swaps, so this morning, I grabbed three of the pretty green colors out of the drawer to create today's look. I thought it may have been too green, but a coworker told me it was really pretty and not over-the-top since I was wearing all black today, so my face was really only the only color I was wearing. I really like each of the greens I wore today.

Shout Outs!

Hi guys, no photos today because I've been a slacker. However, I want to give two big shout outs:

First, a HYOOOOOGE shout out to Erin at erinforevermore blog because she did amazing things to my blog to make it look fabulous! Erin is responsible for the beautiful new banner, the new design and layout. She rescued my blog from looking like it was dying by the side of the road and took it to Fifth Avenue with her aesthetic overhaul. I am so grateful and am thankful forevermore to Erin Forevermore! Many hugs and kisses and sparkles to ya, pretty lady!

Second, I was so excited when, a couple of weeks ago, completely out of the blue, I got an email from a company that wanted to sponsor my blog: SkinCareRx. I was so jazzed to get a blog sponsor and even more jazzed that they're going to enable me to do a giveaway for a gift certificate to their store. Stay tuned for more details, and in the meantime, click the link on my right upper sidebar to go check out SkinCareRx and their sister-sites, Apothica and Skin Botanica. If you've shopped there before, I'd love to hear about your great experiences with them.

Fish Egg Nails

I've been fascinated by the "fish egg nails" trend I've been seeing lately, and wanted to try my own hand at it. I went to Michael's today and bought 12 different colors of microbeads, so I will be playing with this look and different color combos for a while.

Since it was my first attempt, I decided to start with an accent nail on each hand. It's not perfect -- there are a few gaps in spots between some beads, but for a first try it's not too bad.

I used Zoya's Pinta and over that, Essie Shine Of The Times on all nails except for the ring finger. On the ring finger, I used gold microbeads. I put a coat of Seche Vite on top of each nail, including the beaded nails.

Plum and Aqua Look of the Day

It's a beautiful day today here on the Front Range in Colorado. The sun is out, there's not a cloud as far as the eye can see, everything is green and blooming. I just can't tell you how much I love spring!

This is the look I wore today. I really like how the aqua under my eyes complements the aqua shimmer in the lid shadow.

I'm so happy it's spring that I thought I'd give you a full-on, toothy smile today!
