Fast & Simple Look Of The Day

I woke up late today and only had 30 minutes to get ready before I left for work. I needed to do something on my face that would be super simple but pretty. I ended up leaving 40 minutes after I woke up, so I was only 10 minutes late to work, but I did the quickest full-makeup job I've done in a while. I really love the Darling Girl eyeshadows I used today, Donner and Dolce Peccato. I also love the Geek Chic shadow I used as a liner, Solid Snake. However, what I absolutely adored the most was the Raining Blood Holo-Gloss. You guys, it is the prettiest red lippie I think I've ever worn. I tried to get a good up-close photo of the gloss on my lips, but none of the photos turned out. Next time I wear it, I'll try again!

Here's the look I created today.

Look of the Day with Darling Girl Cosmetics

I just adore Darling Girl Cosmetics, and I LOVED today's look -- the Darling Girl eye, cheek, and lip colors are all just so pretty, and it was so simple and easy to throw together. Bijou is really the winner of this look -- it's the most gorgeous greenish silver-brown taupe with a beautiful sheen.

Mellow Yellow - Never Too Much Sparkle Challenge

This week's Never Too Much Sparkle challenge is "Mellow Yellow." I have never done a predominantly yellow look and it scared me! I started with one look, but disliked it, so I started grabbing random colors and packing them on to cover up the ugly look and try to make something wearable. I finally ended up with the look below, but telling you exactly what I used is going to be tough. You'll see that below the pictures is another photo of one of the palettes I used -- the Coastal Scents 88 Cool Shimmer Palette. I have no idea which colors I placed where, so I just put big X's on the colors I used. (Apologies also for the quality of that photo -- I took it on the fly after I'd used the shadows.) Sorry I wasn't more precise about everything! It was pretty much a random look that I put together as I went along.

My husband just said I look like I've done a partial clown face. :(

Experimental Look with My Beauty Addiction

I've been seeing a lot of eye looks lately done with colors I'd have never thought to put together. So today, I grabbed some random colors and decided to try putting together a look with colors I'd have never naturally associated with each other. I created a look using gold, brown, raspberry, white, and purple. I'm not sure how I feel about it -- I think I like it... but it's still a bit odd for me.

All of the eyeshadows are from My Beauty Addiction. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what colors most of them are because they're from a grab bag purchase and most don't have names. The crease color is Raspberry Martini. Other than that, they're all unnamed. This is the first time I've used My Beauty Addiction eyeshadows, and I love them! They are really, really nice and now I want more!

Here's the look I created with my random selection of eye colors.

LOTN - Blue and Red and White

I've been wanting to wear a gorgeous blue blingy eyeshadow  (Bellbottom Blues Bling Tone Eyeshadow by MyFace Cosmetics) that I got in my latest Beauty Army box, but it's such a vibrant, strong blue, and since I'm a bit gun-shy about blues, I've been waiting for just the right time to experiment with it.

With President's Day coming up tomorrow here in the USA, I guess I was feeling a bit patriotic last night. I really wanted to wear Bellbottom Blues, so I decided to pair it up with some red and white, but I wanted to avoid looking like the American Flag or Uncle Sam. This is what I created.

Shiro Cosmetics My Nerdy Valentine - Binary Love Addendum

Yesterday, I posted swatches from Shiro Cosmetics' My Nerdy Valentine collection. In the Never Too Much Sparkle community on Facebook, I was asked what Binary Love Intertube looks like alone. I took a couple of pictures this morning to show her, and figured I'd post them here, too, as an addendum to yesterday's post.

And so, without further ado, I give you Binary Love! (It is such a gorgeous sheer color. I lurvs it!)

Shiro Cosmetics My Nerdy Valentine Swatches & Look

Hi! I haven't blogged in two weeks because I've been dealing with the Death Plague. I'm feeling much better today, but it's been and up-and-down crud, so we'll see how I'm doing tomorrow. Hopefully I'm finally on the mend for real this time!

I got a package in the mail last weekend from Shiro Cosmetics with my order from their "My Nerdy Valentine" collection. I didn't order the entire collection, just two eyeshadows and two Intertube lippies. However, I figured I'd swatch them and post a look using them, as well. They're all so pretty!

The eyeshadows I ordered are /love and /hug. Here are their descriptions:

/love - "Lovely shimmery off-white with bright golden sparks"

/hug - "Soft velvety brown base with strong gold shimmer."

The Intertubes I ordered are Less Than Three and Binary Love.  Here are their descriptions:

Less Than Three - "Color: Pinky-red rose. Opacity: Moderately opaque, may be built up to full opacity. Stains: Yes - please be careful!"

Binary Love - "Color - Light golden sparkle. Opacity: Sheer. Stains: Nope!"

And now, on to the swatches, and then, pics of the look I created using them. The swatches were taken in diffrerent lighting - indirect sunlight, direct sunlight, and with flash.

(As always, click on the picture to view a larger image.)

Eyeshadows - top row, L-R: /love, /hug
Intertube - bottom row, L-R: Less Than Three, Binary Love

Look at how shiny the Intertubes are in direct sunlight!

And here are photos of the eye look I created with the eyeshadows. The first photo in each set is taken in natural light and the second photo in each set was taken with flash.

For the lips, I applied Less Than Three without building it up to opacity. I layered Binary Love over it for some golden sparkle.

This first photo was taken with flash.

This second photo was taken in direct sunlight - you can definitely see the gold sparkle as the sun catches it!

Finally, the overall look, both photos taken in indirect sunlight.

Did you buy any of the My Nerdy Valentine limited edition items from Shiro? What did you get and what do you think of them?

Sick Face featuring L'Oreal Perpetual Purple Infallible Eyeshadow

Blah, I'm sick. I think I have strep throat. We'll find out when I go to the doctor tomorrow. I haven't worn makeup in a couple of days, and I thought if I put some on today, it might make me feel better. It didn't, but at least I had fun playing with it.

In the photos below, the purple color on my eyelids is L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Perpetual Purple. I spent years being a makeup snob and not wearing anything from the drugstore, but people have been raving about a few different drugstore brands lately, so I decided to test the drugstore waters, and I'm so glad I did. I now own a number of L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows and Maybelline Color Tattoos, and one Maybelline Bouncy Blush with a couple more ordered and on the way. They are all phenomenal products.

I actually have a few favorites among them, but today, my favorite is this Infallible Eyeshadow in Perpetual Purple. The Infallible eyeshadows are somewhere between a cream and a powder. You can apply them with your finger, but to get a ton of good, deep, rich color, I prefer to use a brush to pack it on and then smooth it over the lid.

Now that I think about it, I should do a post with all of my new and awesome Maybelline and L'Oreal products because I'm so impressed with them. I'll try to do one soon.

In the meantime, here is my sick face/sick eyes featuring L'Oreal Infallible in Perpetual Purple.
