NTMS Challenge - Totally Tubular '80s!

The challenge last week in Never Too Much Sparkle was "Totally Tubular '80s!" I had SO MUCH FUN creating this look. I didn't write down what I used, and it's been so long that I don't recall anything specific that I used, but I still thought I'd post my look just for kicks.

Shimmery Eyes Today!

The other day, I saw an absolutely gorgeous eye look by Mandy of Prettymaking blog. I think it's one of the prettiest eye looks I've ever seen, so I wanted to do my own version of it. I only have one of the colors, but that helped me do my own version of it. I like how it turned out, even though I blended the colors a bit too much and muddied them up a bit. Next time I try something like this, I'll try not to overblend.

Pink & Brown LOTD

At least a month ago (probably longer), a friend gave me some mineral eye shadow samples from The All Natural Face. I finally got around to trying them out (sorry it took me so long, Karen!) I decided to pair them with one of my new Brazen Cosmetics lippies, and like the way the look turned out, soft and pretty. I really like The All Natural Face shadows - they wore really well all day long. The pink and brown shades I used blended into a really pretty plummy color, which I think looked really pretty.

The sun was really, really bright, so if I looked washed-out or like I'm squinting, it's due to the sunshine. I love spring and all of the sunlight!

Soft, Simple Look of the Day

I know that just a couple of days ago, I raved about my new Etude House BB Cream. However, I had a sample of Elishacoy Always Triple BB Cream, so I gave it a shot this morning, and I'm head-over-heels for it. I wish I wouldn't have gotten that Etude House BB Cream now! LOL This Elishacoy BB Cream did amazing things for my face -- it smoothed it out, making my skin look airbrushed and absolutely flawless with a lit-from-within glow that lasted all day long. Every time I passed a mirror today, I couldn't get over how beautiful my skin looked. I'm in love!

I had a whole different look in mind for today, but when I saw how amazing my skin looked, I didn't want to try attention to my eyes or lips, so I went with a really soft, simple, neutral look to help emphasize the awesomeness of my skin's near-perfect appearance.

These photos were taken 11.5 hours after I put on my makeup, which gives you an idea of how well the BB cream lasts! Even the blush on top of it lasted all day, which never happens! Because I took these photos at the end of the day, the lighting was a little funky, hence the slightly blurry first couple of photos. My camera was trying to force me to use flash and wouldn't believe me that there was enough natural lighting! As you can see, my hair's a little worse for the wear, but my skin never, EVER looks this phenomenal at the end of a long work day.

I actually wore MAC Venetian lipglass all day, but when I got home, I had a Brazen Cosmetics order in the mail, so I pulled out Lola and put it on for these pics. I love how beautiful Lola is -- it's completely different from what I was expecting based on the website swatches, but I really like it. it's described as "Sweet raspberry candy color with dazzling gold sparkles will make seductress satisfied. Semi-opaque, leaves a sexy stain on the lips that makes everyone want to take a bite. Yum!"

Etude House BB Cream

I've tried a few Asian BB creams recently, and really liked all of them. When it came to purchasing a full size, I did a bunch of research, compared a bunch of different ones, and then got a recommendation from Bellogirl. I ended up ordering the Etude House Precious Mineral All Day strong BB Cream in #3 Sheer Flawless. I couldn't be happier!

In recent weeks, I've tried seven different high-end liquid foundations, and found all of them unsatisfactory in one way or another. I have really been wanting something that will even out my skin tone and give me coverage that lasts all day. I've given up on liquid foundations, but am a convert to Asian BB creams!

I thought I'd post before and after photos for you.

This photo was taken moments before applying the Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream. As you can see, I don't have a lot of skin issues other than some uneveness, a little bit of redness above my eyebrows, around the base of my nostrils, and on my chin. I have some freckles from sun-damage that I would like to conceal, as well.  And, of course, there is the deep, dark, undereye circle problem, but I have never expected a foundation or BB cream to help with that!

And this photo was taken moments after applying it. The coverage is flawless, it really evens out my skin tone,  covers the redness and the freckles, and I think, even helps a bit with the undereye circles! The color looks good with my coloring, and yes, it lasts all day and my naturally oily skin feels silky and fresh all day long.

I don't imagine I'll go back to using any sort of liquid foundation any time soon. I'll still finish up the mineral foundations I've been using simply so they don't go to waste, but I really like that I have this BB cream option now, too, and have a feeling that once my mineral foundations are gone, I'll be sticking with the BB cream!

How about you -- have you tried real Asian BB creams (I'm not talking about the high end "beauty balms" sold at Sephora)? What do you think of them?

Two Looks with Shiro Cosmetics' Tribute Collection

I said on Friday that I'd post my Shiro Tribute Collection look on Saturday, but I completely failed to do so. I got so busy this weekend and didn't spend hardly any time at all online. I ended up doing two looks with Shiro's Tribute Collection -- one during the day Friday and one on Friday night. I'm posting both of them here.

First, the day look.

I love how Brazen Cosmetics' gloss "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" looks over Morgana's Copper Patina lipstick!

LIPS:

Next is the night look. Unfortunately, I didn't write down what I was wearing, so I only remember what I had on my eyes, a couple of which were from the Tribute Collection. The lid and duct area is Huntress, the crease is Ever In Your Favor, the brow bone was highlighted with MAC Brule, and the purple on my lower lash line was Shiro's Shinigami, which was a freebie with my order. On my lips, I wore Rock-a-Betty Beauty's Liquid Sin (purple) with Pestilence House (turquoise) over it.

This isn't a color scheme that I typically wear, as I don't find it particularly flattering, but I was wearing this fun silver mesh top and wanted to go with a cool-toned look to go with it. I don't really care for how the overall look turned out, although each of the colors is pretty awesome in its own right.

Shiro Cosmetics The Tribute Collection Swatches

Last night, I received my samples from The Tribute Collection, Shiro Cosmetics' nod to The Hunger Games series. The colors are all so beautiful that I wanted to swatch them right away. I did a look with four of them today, so keep your eyes peeled for that post tomorrow!

I apologize for the awkward spacing in the photos/text below. Blogger was being an uncooperative butt!

Here are what the sample baggies look like. (As always, click on each photo below to view a larger image.)

I think my hands-down favorite is Baker's Boy, which is a shimmer light golden brown with blue shimmer. It's so pretty and would be a stunning single-color wash or highlight color. I'll probably wear it the most.

My other favorites are Ever In Your Favor, Girl On Fire, and Unforgettable. They're all so rich in color and depth and shimmer.

The strangest one is Star-Crossed, which is supposed to be a "blackened copper-brown." Maybe my sample wasn't mixed properly, but it comes across as a sort of dark, moss-greenish-black with streaks of copper-gold. And when I say streaks, I mean streaks. Before I try wearing this one, I will shake and stir my baggie to see if I can get the gold to blend better with the darker greenish-black-brown.

All in all, this is a gorgeous collection and I definitely see at least one full-size in my future (Baker's Boy), if not more.
