Review: Born Pretty Store Black and Shimmer Gel Liners and Eyeshadow/Blush Palette (PIC HEAVY!)

PR sample*.

I recently had the opportunity to test and a review some makeup products from Born Pretty Store. I choose to review are:

The products were mailed from Singapore, and to my delight, everything arrived with tons of bubble wrap--there was no chance any of these items were going to get damaged during international transit!

Maychèèr Color Shot Make Up Case

I picked this particular palette to try because I wanted to see the quality of Born Pretty Store's eyeshadows and blushes. It is advertised as having 24 eyeshadows, 9 blushes, and a powder base. In actuality, it has 1 pressed powder, 2 pressed eyebrow colors, 2 blushes, and 28 eyeshadows. The pressed powder works well as a brow bone type eyeshadow, and 4 of the pink eyeshadows can alternately be used as blushes, so it is quite a versatile little palette.

As you can see in the photo below, 24 of the eyeshadows are on the bottom half of the palette, and the two blushes, pressed powder, eyebrow powders, and four pink eyeshadows/blushes are on the top half of the palette. The palette also includes a mirror, a double-ended sponge-tip applicator for the eyeshadows, and a tiny brush for the blushes.

Maychèèr Color Shot Make Up Case:

The palette arrived neatly packaged in a box with the brand information, which isn't included on the website. I absolutely adore Asian beauty products, and always smile at some of the cute translations to English. Both the palette and the box it comes in have a fun little saying on the front with a cute English translation that makes me smile every time I see it:

the beauty which maycheer can bring with you, is just
like golden sunshine flowing on your face. because of
this happiness, you look so young and charing!

The 24 eyeshadows on the bottom half of the palette:

In the below photo of the items in the top half of the palette, the left column of circular items are the four pink eyeshadows that may alternate as blushes. The top two square items are blushes. The two oblong items are the brow powders - one dark and one light. The bottom right square is the pressed powder.

Following are swatches of the products in the same order shown as in the palette. As you can see the four small pink eyeshadows/blushes, are quite shimmery while the larger square blushes are matte. They are all nicely pigmented, and a couple of the pink eyeshadow/blushes have a gorgeous shifting highlight that could almost be called a duochrome.

The brow powders are difficult to swatch on my hand, as they feel dry and chalky. However, when I used the darker one on my eyebrows, it looked very nice and natural. Keep reading for photos where I used these products, and you'll see how nicely the brow powder worked out.

The face powder is to yellow-toned for my particular skin tone, but I think it works beautifully as a nice color to apply to the brow bone to help blend out eyeshadows in the crease.

These are the 24 multi-colored eyeshadows. I love that they are organized from light to dark, both from the top to bottom, and from left to right.

These are the 12 colors on the left size of the case--vanillas, golds, browns, and greens.

Here are swatches of the 12 colors from the left side of the case, swatched in the same order as they are in the case. They're dense colors, highly pigmented, and very rich in tone.

These are the 12 colors on the right size of the case, from the blue, purple, and gray end of the color spectrum.

Here are swatches of the 12 colors from the right side of the case, swatched in the same order as they are in the case. They are all really pretty, and some of those blues and purples really knock my socks off with how pretty they are!

The Maychéér Color Shot Make Up Case is $12.99. Everything in the palette is good quality, especially for the price. The eyeshadows and blushes in particular apply smoothly and easily. The eyeshadows leave behind quite a bit of eyeshadow dust, as they're not very finely milled, but they're so rich with such great color payoff, that I don't mind the excess dust at all.

There is nothing on either the website or the packaging that lists product ingredients, so if you have any cosmetic sensitivities, allergies, or other concerns, you will want to keep this in mind.

I think it's a perfect palette to take with you for a short weekend of travel if you want to bring something compact that will provide you with versatile product and color options. It would be a terrific product for a young girl who is just learning about makeup, as it would provide a wide variety of colors to experiment with at a great price. Or, if you're like me, it's a great palette to have around to simply add more pretty and fun colors to your eyeshadow and blush collection.

Yanqina Liquid Eyeliner

I use black liquid or gel eyeliner almost every single day, and am always keeping an eye out for good eyeliners. That was why I selected to review is Yanqina Liquid Eyeliner. Well, that, and the packaging caught my eye! I took one look at the Geisha product packaging and was sold. It is quite possibly the cutest makeup packaging I've ever seen! The website description claims that "the extreme thick color cream can increase magic power for the eye makeup." I am a big fan of increasing the magic power of my eye makeup, so how could I resist that promise, too?

Once again, the website doesn't list the brand, but the back of the eyeliner has that information on it.

The eyeliner applicator is a hard, felt-tip with precision point. As you can see in the swatch below, it applies evenly, neatly, and cleanly, with no bleeding, and you can get a wide or thin line.

I have used this eyeliner several times it wears like iron all day long, then washes off easily when I remove my makeup at night.

The packaging does not include an ingredient listing, but the Born Pretty Store website listing for this product does list the main ingredients.

The Yanqina Liquid Eyeliner is $8.42 and comes in a package of six. You can't beat the quality of the product at the price point, and if you don't need six black eyeliners, they are absolutely perfect for giving to friends, or using them as Christmas stocking stuffers. I am hoping to eventually see this eyeliner in a series of different colors with different Geisha designs.

Shimmer Glitter Liquid Gel Eyeliners

Finally, the last items I chose to review are the most adorable Shimmer Glitter Liquid Gel Eyeliners. They're shaped like teddy bears, and one set of eyeliners includes blue, light green, gold, purple, pink, and white.

This is what the set looks like. The first three (blue, light green, gold) show the front of the packaging, and the second three (purple, pink, white) show the reverse side of the packaging.

The website doesn't list a brand, but the front side of each eyeliner has the brand name, but I can't figure out what is is. The first four letters are "LING", and then there's either a symbol or an "M," and the last letter is either a backward "R" or an "I" or a "Y" or... ?  *shrugs*

These eyeliners are not really glitter eyeliners, as much as they are shimmer eyeliners. They provide a nice additional pop of bright, shimmery color that catch the light, but the not in the same way that glitter does. The eyeliner applicator is a thin brush, which enables the user to apply a thin line, or to go back over it again for a thicker line.

The colors in the set don't have names, but they are numbered from 1-6 on the bottom.

Here are swatches of the shimmer eyeliners. They are applied in the same order as they're pictured above, numbers 1-6, or blue, light green, gold, purple, pink, and white.

I find they apply easily and I get a nice, clean line. However, they dry slightly flaky. I have sensitive eyes, and as I noticed these liners started to get flaky the first time I wore them, it did concern me that they would flake into my eyes and cause irritation, so I washed off my makeup quickly, and can't speak to the length of wear time. They did wash off easily without leaving any residue behind.

There is nothing on either the website or the packaging that lists product ingredients, so if you have any cosmetic sensitivities, allergies, or other concerns, you will want to keep this in mind.

These adorable Shimmer Glitter Liquid Eyeliners are $8.77 for this set of six colors. This is a terrific bargain, especially if you want to add a little pizzazz to your eye looks.

Born Pretty Store Eye Looks

Below are two looks I created using eyeshadows and the brow powder from the Maychèèr Color Shot Make Up Case. I used the pressed powder in the palette as a brow bone color for each look. In addition, I've used the Yanqina Liquid Eyeliner to line my upper lashes in both looks.

Overall, I am very happy with these products. I find the quality of the makeup palette and the black liquid eyeliner are especially good for the price. The colors are fun and the packaging is functional, yet super adorable. The price point is low enough that I could have a lot of fun buying these, or similar, products as fun little gifts for friends or family. I love that Born Pretty Store doesn't just have makeup, but they carry a variety of other products including nail design products, stationary, clothing and accessories, office and kitchen gadgets, watches, and any number of other products, so I can shop for makeup and tack on other things that I can use around my own home, or that I can give as gifts.

Finally, last but absolutely not least, Born Pretty Store has graciously offered a 10% discount to their store for all of my blog readers! Please click on the banner at the top of my right sidebar, and use discount code SKG10.

What do you think of the products shown here? Do you love the adorable packaging as much as I do?
