Sneak Peek! "Queens of Horror" by Darling Girl Cosmetics

PR samples.

Hi! This week I received samples of the upcoming Halloween collection from Darling Girl Cosmetics. Queens of Horror is a set of 12 eye shadows and 1 Balm Gloss 3D. The set will be released on Darling Girl's website on September 12, so keep an eye out for it! In the meantime, I have swatches of everything!

All eye shadows are swatched over Darling Girl Glitter Glue.

As always, click on each image to view it larger. The larger versions definitely show more of the complexity and sparkle within each shade.

Those first six shades are all purples and greens, and man, are they gorgeous! I particularly love Do You Like Scary Movies and the grayish purple of Got Face? Married To The Macabre is ultra shiny--I've never seen another green shade quite like it. I wish my camera would have captured how utterly unique and amazing it is.

My favorite is Prom Queen, followed by Queen of Scream. Prom Queen has an incredible balance of reddish-maroon and pink sparkles that is so pretty it hurts! Queen of Scream is such a gorgeous orange-peach shade with super strong sparkle. Once again, my camera completely failed to capture how thoroughly unique and sparkly these colors are.

When I first unpacked this collection, I could not get over how uber-sparkly it is. Unfortunately, try as I might, there was nothing I could do to get my camera to pick up the sparkle in the first set of shadows. However, I was able to snap an out-of-focus shot of the second set of six shadows that shows the sparkliness...and a bit of the mess in my room behind me. :)

Look at that sparkle!!! It's mesmerizing!

Last--but certainly not least--is the Balm Gloss 3D called "I'm Into Survival." This shade is a gorgeous Barbie pink with holographic turquoise sparkles. It's beautiful, and like all of Darling Girl's Balm Glosses, it feels really nice on my lips.

I'm really loving this collection. I totally dig that it's heavy on purples, which I think is perfect for fall. I'm also thrilled that Darling Girl is releasing it in time for people to wear their favorite "scream queens" right around Halloween.

Do you have grabby hands for anything from this collection?

Swatches: Fyrinnae Lipsticks

I purchased this.

Hi! Guess what? Fyrinnae has come out with lipsticks!!! Who is as excited about this as I am? I've been shopping with Fyrinnae for about 10 years, and they're one of my favorite indie makeup companies. I adore their eyeshadows, love their blushes, think their powder primers and finishing powders are the shiznit, so naturally I'm super psyched that they now have lipsticks.

As always, click on the images for maximum awesomeness (when enlarged, you can really see the highlights in the metallic shades).

Bottom, L-R: Pumpkin Spicy, Purr, Witchcraft

Fyrinnae currently has 10 lipstick shades, but will be adding to the color range with time. The lipsticks are $10 each, and they also sell hot-poured samples at $1.50 each. They claim you can get at least 2-3 uses out of each sample, but based on the samples I bought, I'm guessing it's probably closer to 15 uses...maybe more. As you can see in these photos, the samples do vary in size. My sample of Drawn That Way was the fullest and Legendary and Witchcraft the least full, but I'm still going to get at least 10 wears out of those two--quite likely twice as many as that because these lipsticks are so opaque and pigmented.

Kittybomb!

Oops... let's try that again without the cat...

And now on to the actual swatches!

These lipsticks are solid and thick, but not remotely uncomfortable or drying. They feel really nice on my lips, like a second skin. I love how comfortable they wear!

Of the shades I purchased, three have a bit of a shift--Indulgence, Misfit, and Witchcraft. Four have semi-matte to matte finishes, which seem more like a cream or satin finish to me--Drawn That Way, Legendary, Pumpkin Spicy, and Purr.

While I love the metallic/shifty shades and think they're pretty awesome, they just don't look that great on me, but someone younger and edgier could probably rock them hard. My favorites are Pumpkin Spicy and Purr. Pumpkin Spicy is exactly the shade of warm, nude brown that I've been looking for everywhere for years. And Purr is one of the prettiest colors I've ever seen in my life. I have never counted my lipstick collection, but I am guessing it's around... I don't know...maybe 250? 300? ...and Purr is absolutely unique among the mauve shades I own--and I own a lot of mauve, believe you me.  I'm most definitely picking up full sizes of Pumpkin Spicy and Purr.

Overall, I'm super impressed. I didn't expect to be disappointed since Fyrinnae always does everything with perfection, but I'm still impressed by the formula, the unique shades, the low price for such high quality, and of course, their exceptional customer service and turnaround time.

What do you think of Fyrinnae's new lipsticks? Do you see any must haves?
